BLOG POST 1

Task 1

“Hi Nathan,

I really enjoyed reading your critique. I like that you didn’t just address OSMOS positive aspects, you also incorporated some potential negative components of the technology such as cost and availability. I also felt it was important that you related the technology back to students real life experiences, and reiterated the importance of this. I also liked how you begun the blog with the importance of technology in education, and made it clear this stemmed from your own personal thoughts – how a blog should be.

“Hi Bree,

I really liked how you started your Blog with a positive video that links directly to the topic / question – emerging technologies in education. The video provides readers with a basis and introduction of essentially what this blog will be based around. Integrating Lins creative pedagogical model is a fantastic way of allowing your audience to make connections between Minecraft ,pedagogy and learning. I also thought it was valuable that you related Minecraft to a specific classroom scenario which was a history class example. Thanks for the great blog!

Design Based Thinking – 3D Modelling

“Hi Corey,

I really enjoyed reading your blog. I thought it was great that you introduced an example of utilising the Sketchup in design classes, stated the advantages specific to this, then used your own sketchup creation to exemplify your example. I also thought it was really insightful that you gave a resolution (online video tutorials) to your disadvantage (long process to learn the technology).

“Hi Hugh,

I thought this week’s blog post was really informative. It was great how you included what stage this game was aimed at and relating it back to classroom examples. I liked how you incorporated the pedagogical approach – socio constructivism and also the classroom example for this – modelling and asking questions. It was also great how you touched on the idea of the game fostering creativity multiple times. Were there any disadvantages to this game in a classroom setting? All in all, a great blog!

Computational thinking

“Hi Bodhi,

It looks as if your comments are not enabled on your posts so i will make my comment to your week 3 computational thinking post here. Firstly, I really like the layout of your post; the way you split the post into text, videos and images was great! Your subheadings made it easy for me to know exactly what you are about to talk about, and where everything sits in the post. I feel as if you used great sources of information and I learnt a lot from reading your post!  Are there any possible disadvantages you came across whilst researching / using code kingdoms?

“Hi Shellie,

I thought your blog post was full of valuable and informative information! I liked how you structured it through the three challenges, then a solution to all of this. I thought it was great how you created your own table of interpretation of the categories of the CT resources. I also liked how you used a collage of photos of the examples of the plugged resources, this made your blog a lot more engaging and creative. Overall, i had a really great time reading your blog and learnt a lot that i never knew.

Robotics

“Hi Courtney,

I really enjoyed reading your week 4 robotics critique! Firstly, i liked how you chose the Lego Wedo and recognised that it can be implemented for a wide range of ages – both primary and high school. You also included the appropriated pedagogical approaches for your chosen technologies; ‘constructivism and constructionism’, which I think is important as a way of relating your technology into classroom practices. Also i thought it was great how you used a specific classroom example, great blog!

“Hi Rochelle,

This blog was great! Your blog looks really good in terms of presentation, colours and images. It was benefical that you included the challenges for educators that come along when bringing AR into the classroom – the ability technology to achieve lower order thinking capabilities. I have not yet engaged with froggipedia, however it does look like a really cost effective way to immerse students in creative activities.

Virtual Reality

“Hi Gia,

Great blog! I liked how you firstly established the difference between AR and VR, it is easy for people struggle to differentiate between the two because they’re quite similar! Your specific classroom examples, such as using co spaces as an award system, or English students creating interactive stories. Additionally, I thought It was really great that you mentioned the animation tabs as a way of catering for lower ability / ESL students. Definitely thinking outside of the box!  Do you think there are any limitations to integrating Cospaces in the classroom?

“Hi Charlotte,

This was a great Blog! I like how you distinguished between Immersive (wearable) VR and Desktop VR before beginning your blog. Someone learning about VR would certainly find this beneficial. I thought it was good that you included your own images from your experience with Co space, however I think it would have been beneficial if you spoke about co spaces too or added images for wearable VR.

Games Based Learning

“Hi Hayley,

I really enjoyed reading your blog. I liked how you incorporated tetras – a game that stems from your own personal experiences as a student. Doing this I think engages your readers and makes it more relatable! You then went on to speak about scratch, a platform that I think is fantastic to incorporate into the classroom. I thought it was great that you created you own game for us to try out on scratch. One thing, the critique is quite long considering the word count given, hard to stick to I know! However, it’s clear you put in a lot of effort into this critique, great work.

“Hi Casper,

Great blog! I enjoyed reading your critique on Games based learning. I think it was good that you mentioned why you think Scratch is appropriate for K-6 students, rather than 7-12.and your reasons for this. I also think it was great you included a TED talk about the effectiveness of games being integrated into the classroom.

Constructionism & the Maker Movement

“Hi Karim,

I really liked your blog! I think you incorporated some really great points and gave a clear and descriptive paragraph of what makerspaces are and how this can foster the creativity for students. I think there could have possibly been some more information regarding Tinkercad and the possible benefits and negatives to integrating this into classroom settings. However, all in all really great and informative blog.

Lily.”

“Hi Joshua,
